Partial seizures at work

luckily for me i only really suffer with sleep and partial seizures, i have not had a full day seizure in over 7 years.

problem is that at work i have had a few partials and ignored them at first, as i only had a few blank moments when working, just dropping things etc. Though i did have a full body lockup and fell over and hurt my back kind of kept that quiet though.

Problem is i had a partial on the stairs a little while ago. Fell down a few stairs and was slumped in the corner when i stopped "spacing out" so to say. The doctor signed me off sick and i am going to see a neurologist soon. People from work are almost trying to bully me back into work, to a degree. Since then i have, fell when getting into the bath after a nigh seizure, damaged my leg/knee and have had to use a walking stick again. (man i wish i had a walk in shower)

I feel like when i go back with how it is there, people will be hostile to a degree and treat me different. I have seen this when other people have gone off sick before.

should i try and find a different job or see if the government, (UK) can help me at all in finding a new job or staying at my current if i can get my partials back under control.

sorry for the wall of text

Craig

You need to be Your Own Best Advocate & take care of yourself!!! Go to your HR Department at work for assistance. Don't be bullied!!

Agree with BeezyB

I have recently had a similar journey.

My union were pretty much useless

My GP and neuro were very supportive and provided information to my hr dept but they don't get it.

I came close to leaving but changed my attitude and started talking to the people who I work with rather than hiding my condition.

Get your gp to recommend an occupational health Review and formalise your rights.

I think you'll be surprised how the decent ppl react to you explaining the side effects and how you live with E.

Epilepsy action have some good online courses for you and will come to your place of work for a small fee.
