Medication for epilepsy and the liver

Hi all, hope everyone has had a great festive season.

I was initially diagnosed in 1987 and put on rivotril (benzodiazepine) 2mg 3 x per day. In 2011 this was changed to epilem and lemoctrogin.

I always tried to live a healthy lifestyle (bodybuilding in my early years with no supplements not even vitamins, mountain biking, adventure racing, multi sport) and with that eating healthy and very rarely drinking (good whiskey in SA is way too expensive a bottle could last me 3 years easily).

I've been diagnosed with a fatty liver and gallstones but they say lifestyle? My neurologist here in the UK won't consider changing the epilem despite it being contraindicated for patients with liver problems.

I'm so tired of feeling so exhausted and nauseous and my health just seems to be going downhill.

Has anyone else on epilepsy meds been diagnosed with liver problems as well?

Be your own advocate!! Your doc is obviously ignorant about fatty liver disease. Not always due to lifestyle but genetic ppredisposition.

Time for a new doc?......
