Hi ma7anatha

Thank you for your post.

It’s difficult to say if gum disease is a Lamictal side effect, it is not listed on the official leaflet of possible side effects. But it does list dry mouth (xerostomia) as a side-effect. Dry mouth can cause constant thirst and difficulty when eating and speaking. Reduced saliva can encourage the growth of bacteria in the mouth and increase the risk of tooth decay, gum disease and disease in the lining of the mouth. medicines.org.uk/emc/produc...

If you or your dentist wish to report this possible side-effect, it can be done by using the yellow card scheme. yellowcard.mhra.gov.uk/

If we can be of any more help, please feel free to contact us again, either by email or the Epilepsy Action Helpline freephone 0808 800 5050. Our helpline is open Monday to Thursday 8.30am until 8.00pm, Friday 8.30am until 4.30pm and Saturday 10.00am until 4.00pm.

Regards

I feel like lamactil caused bone loss that has lead to lots of dental problems.

That is so interesting....I have had gum and teeth problems but had put it down to getting older!( I had always had very good, strong teeth and healthy gums)...I have been taking Lamactil for 8 years now so I am wondering if there is a connection.....Something I may ask my neurologist.
