seizures and weight

Hi, sorry to hear the news of your son... I have had epilepsy now for 42 years and admit that after a tonic clonic seizure, my appetite is suppressed. One is exhausted after a seizure, and depending on the type of seizure, it can affect each individual and their body in different ways.
The medication your son is taking might not be suitable for him, perhaps he needs a change? Perhaps his dosage needs changing.
My advice is to contact your Doctor or the Neurologist, ask some questions and get him seen to urgently. Maybe you might also consider a second opinion if need be.
Wishing him all the best, but keep us posted on his progress.

Hi Peediedj
The weight loss must be a worry. Having epilepsy itself won’t make your son lose weight. But as you say, it could be a side-effect of his epilepsy medicine.
It may be best to talk to his doctor or epilepsy nurse.
