İ will be moving to uk soon and I am using lamictal for years. I do not know if I can buy lamictal there without prescription? Or what should I do to buy some there? Or how many boxes I can carry with me on the plane?

Legal status of lamictal in uk
Not without a prescription. Only take Lamictal ( original product). Don't settle for any of the watered-down generics on the UK market (which need higher dosages).
Thank you for your reply! One more question then.. how is it possible to prove that I need this prescription ? I have a signed note from my doctor here in Turkey saying what is my medical issue and what I am taking now in Turkey. This shows my status, this is not a medical report. And that's all I have. Do you think this is enough to show that document to a GP in UK to make them write a prescription for me?
If you're only visiting the UK you're fine. If you're travelling around, it's always advisable to have a doctors note. Unlike some other countries, in the UK you can only get anticonvulsants on prescription.
Hello Ozaydin,
Here are two links for you:
It is a better idea to look it up and follow official guidance, the Your countries embassy here could also help you. I would suggest trying the British embassy in Turkey also, they might help with information about the ongoing medication etc.
It does state that you need both a prescription and covering letter from your doctor:
Bringing medicine containing a controlled drug into the UKgov.uk › ... › Travel abroad

I cannot post the links directly to here, but if you search on google use:
" if you are coming to uk , how much prescription medication are you allowed to bring "
I hope this helps.
HI again:
I really do think you need to check on the NHS site to find out about the medical care situation and further prescriptions if needed!
Medical care is also different in Scotland , whales and Northern Island, so it depends on where you will be residing!
Bringing prescription drugs into UK is another good search.
thank you for replies! As far as I get, I need to keep that note and a prescription with me to take some pills with me from Turkey to the UK. I read that I can carry some more might enough for 3 months. I think GP might help me with ongoing medication if I see them as soon as I arrive. Lamictal is not in the lists of "controlled drugs" which is on NHS website. I will also get in touch with the embassy and keep this feedback of mine updated for the ones who might need same kind of information.
