Lamotrigine question

I’ve been on lamotrigine for a year or so, my dosage going up and down every 6 months. I’d been on 150mg morning and night for 2-3 months and then was told to increase by 25mg every week to 2 weeks until I was on 225mg but after increasing by the first 25mg I felt more panic symptoms and didn’t feel myself so I decreased it back to normal and for 5 months I felt normal and recently I’ve had anxiety and panic attacks because of home related situations. I’m just wondering if lamotrigine at that dose could elevate the way you are feeling or not

I’m wondering if anyone else has had the same affects or not?

Also I was given 100mg dissolvable tablets and accidentally overdosed because I also suffer from M.E which sometimes can cause me to have short term memory loss and I was previously having to take 6 tablets of each tablet being 25mg so I put 6 of the dissolvable tablets in a cup and took them. I ended up having to go to A.E but felt ok after a while of drinking a lot of water. I unfortunately ended up doing this again a month or so later. Seriously I’d loose my head if it wasn’t attached

Thank you

Megan

Hi Megan, sorry to hear your situation. I tried lamotrigine approx 5/6 yrs ago, didn’t realise @ the time I was having panic attacks whilst taking them. Thought it was a side effect, As I felt so happy!!

I was prescribed Clobazam which worked.?

My neurologist, continued me on these & added Zonisamide, but still didn’t work, had minor & random seizures.

Last year I transferred from lamotrigine onto Keppra still on the others drugs.

Keppra was initially hard due to side effects (depressive) All fine so far. Keep myself busy yoga 🧘‍♀️ helps & fitness classes.

Speak to your neurologist to discuss any other options suitable for you.

Good luck & take care. We are always here, can be a bit like the mad hatters 😄 X. SJ

Well at least I’m not on my own. It gets a little frustrating at times because no one in my family can relate, they obviously try there best but always end up saying your fine or your just over reacting.

I’ll have a word with my neurologist at my next appointment.

I’ve been doing meditation and I’ve just got into yoga. I’m enjoy it but it doesn’t half hurt at first 😂🤪🧘🏼‍♀️

If your like mad matters I think I’ll fit in then 😂

Thank you
