Hi there has this happened to anyone else? I'm really worried at the moment, he has been in hospital for 6 weeks and now they want to move him to an adolescent psychiatric unit.
I'm new to all this so would love some words of wisdom
Thanks

My son has epilepsy and over the years it has caused him considerable distress. But - gradually with understanding and the right kind of social and emotional (rather than medical) support he is learnign to cope with it. Please question the diagnosis as the frustrations and difficulties caused by epilepsy can cause depressions, aggravation, frustration ... but that is not necessarily psychosis. Doctors everywhere are very ignorant about epilepsy and may be treating the apparent psychosis separately from any considerations about the side effects of the epilepsy. Maybe look for a specialist in neurology/epilepsy before accepting this diagnosis?
