Im 40, I have adenomyosis and I have one failed round of IVF behind me. It unfortunately ended with a chemical pregnancy.
Its been very much a rollercoaster of emotions. I got a positive test but was then told after my 2nd hcg test that it was looking like a chemical pregnancy.
I do believe the adenomyosis played its part. It unfortunately causes constant pain. It was very hard to accept at first that there was implanatation and it ended the way it did.
Part of me does not want to do this again but I have embryos left and I cant bear to destroy them.
I would love to keep trying naturally but I doubt that will work. So I asked my clinic to go on the mini pill to see if it will benefit my adenomyosis. Either way Im taking a small break from IVF.
Im 40 now and I am very worried that I am making the wrong decision. Would it be best to have the next transfer without the mini pill or try the mini pill for a month or two first?
Im worried about wasting my time, about my period not coming back etc. Will it even be of benefit taking the mini pill?
Has anyone gone down the mini pill/combined route before ivf or something similar? I would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks

I have recently been diagnosed with adenomyosis and endometriosis so have done a lot of reading up. The protocol I see most recommended and resulting in success is down regulating with lupron for 2-3 months prior to transfer. I see some people get their oestrogen level then checked to see it’s low enough. Another thing some ladies seem to do is then go from down reg straight into letrozole initially at the start of a cycle.
There are two Facebook groups you might find helpful - Adenomyosis Miracles and Endometriosis and Adenomyosis support. Do you know 100% you don’t have endo?
Thanks for your reply. I find everything about ivf very overwhelming. There's so much information out there about different protocols. So women check their oestrogen levels checked to see if its low enough. Why are oestrogen tablets then taken.? I have high oestrogen and I ended up having a frozen cycle. I had a laparoscopy and endo wasn't found apparently. But I do wonder if I have that also as well as the adenomyosis
