miracles do happen

hi just wanted to share my good news. I have had painful periods most of my life ( with the word painful being an understatement). At age 23 I bled for 50 days and had an MRI scan which showed an endometrioma, adenomyosis and a polyp. My gynaecologist wanted to perform surgery but I said no as I read surgery could do more damage to the ovaries and often led to recurrent surgeries. I chose to take medication to stop my periods. I was discharged and haven’t seen a gynaecologist since. Without a period I have led a happy, healthy life with no more pain or bleeding. And to top off this great news. Now at 26 I just had a repeat ultrasound which showed my womb and ovaries look normal. No more endometrioma at all. Which is amazing as all the research says they don’t go away on their own, not even with medication and instead need surgery. I know a lot of us are/ were suffering but just wanted to share some good news and hope. Praying for everyone with endometriosis that miracles will happen and people will be healed.

Hey so it was actually my Gp who gave me norithesterone 5mg which I take once a day. I tried the combined pill and mini pill and neither could control my bleeding and the combined pill made it worse. I didn’t want the implant and never actually tried the mirena although I was open to it. Norithesterone has stopped me having a period with minimal side effects so very grateful to live a normal life without the pain and heavy bleeding. I’ve also never had surgery. So very grateful to defy the medical literature that says endometriomas don’t go away without surgery

I've been on that for the past 7 years and it's been great 😃Unfortunately the doctor has now told me I have to stop taking it as I am 57. I'm not looking forward to stopping it

Yeah I’m surprised it’s not recommended for endometriosis as I’ve had such a good experience with it. Meanwhile all the other stories I read of other medications seem horrible

It is recommended for endometriosis that’s one of the first things a gynaecologist would prescribe whilst waiting for surgery as it puts you into menopause in its own way because after a few years the ovaries stop working so you don’t produce the oestrogen it just puts people more at risk of osteoporosis but I am glad that it helped you so much x
