Not yet diagnosed - POD obliteration and immobile ovary

I have been trying to get a diagnosis for 10 months and had my internal ultrasound 4 months ago where they found POD obliteration and a stuck ovary, I wasn’t told it had anything to do with endometriosis and have been referred for an MRI which is in three months.

Is it possible this could be due to anything else but endometriosis? A simple google search tells me these are signs of severe endometriosis and I would like to speed up the process in that case. I haven’t been referred to a specialist either just general gynaecology on the NHS.

All of my other symptoms are in line with endometriosis.

Gosh. We are pushing for sonographers to check for what is called the 'sliding sign' as this tests whether the uterus is stuck to the bowel - i.e. if they don't slide freely against each other this is a negative sign. When they are firmly stuck with endo fibrosis it is called an obliterated POD and this is a cardinal sign of severe rectovaginal endo, which you have been able to find out for yourself as a lay person! The ESHRE guideline is clear that you now need referring to a specialist endo centre. It will usually (but not always) be the left ovary involved.

I'm so shocked by this, that a sonographer seemingly has the skills to check the sliding sign but doesn't know what it means...I'll send you a DM as a treatment pathway now applies and depends on where in the UK you are. x

Hello, I think I would really love to chat with you more. A brief overview of my situation I was referred for an internal ultrasound a couple of years ago due to extreme ovulation pain and constant pain in my lower back/pelvis on my right side. At this scan I was told my right ovary was immobile and she explained to me this was most likely due to adhesions due to endometriosis scarring. Long story short I have gone for another internal scan today and explained this to him and the sonographer completely disregarded this saying how can they tell that etc I explained ermmm I believe the ovary did not glide where as my left ovary did which is called an immobile ovary and he basically said this was a load of rubbish in other words which has completely thrown me. Saying you cannot tell this on a scan and asking where I had this scan done etc well even I know that you can tell this by a scan and if your ovary is immobile this is a HUGE tell tale sign of endometriosis and scarring.

I have suffered with very bad ovulation pain and period paid over the years, I wouldn’t say my periods are overly heavy or irregular and I do not experience pain during sex but I have had this pain in my right side for nearly 4 years and I mean non stop, constant chronic pain. The only way I can describe it as a contact ache pulling twisting pain in the lower right back/pelvis which extends down my leg.

I am so fed up of fighting to explain my pain, constantly worrying if there is something more sinister going on. Exhausting :(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
