hi

Quick question as not going to moan on. Am 8 weeks post op and am having a lot of vaginal internal discomfort, best way to explain is like a tampon put in wrong and u can feel it.

some days ok some not so good

Any advice if this is part of healing, overdoing it, if should get it checked out.

Thanks

Hello! Sorry to hear you are having some discomfort.

I had a total hysterectomy last year, including cervix removed, have you had cervix removed too? I didn’t have much internal discomfort at all, which was a surprise. When I did experience any pain it’s when I was trying to do too much before everything healed properly, even from something like hoovering etc.

I think you are maybe best to get it checked out.

Hi

Yes I had my cervix removed too. The pain/discomfort is not every day I do think it happens when I do more stuff.

Due to financial reasons I have been back working 3 weeks post op, granted 3 weeks from home then back in work from week 7.

Am becoming very low on mood, very emotional crying over everything I do still have my ovaries but I don’t feel my self.

Hi I’m 10 weeks post op and still occasionally get this feeling if I do too much.

On another hysterectomy support group that I belong to it seems pretty common and part of the healing process.

The ladies on the group call it “the phantom tampon”!! which is a brilliant description.

Apparently it does go in time.Obviously if you’re really worried see your GP. Hope this helps.😊

what other group are you on ?

Am seemed to be getting this feeling every time am hormonal I keep thinking is it a prolapse but it’s not there all time but when it happens it is so uncomfortable and gets me down.

It’s so hard to get in to the doctors to ask them to look

Hi the other group is HysterSysters on Facebook, they had a thread with people talking about this “phantom tampon” feeling, I had it on and off for a while.I’m 4 months post op now and I only get it very occasionally after I’ve been on my feet all day.. I still get the odd twinge/ache around my scar though. It’s a long road to get back to normal it seems. When did you have your op? Hope you can get to see the Dr and get it checked out.😊

You’re welcome, I literally joined Facebook just to join the HysterSysters group and The hysterectomy support group. Both groups have been really helpful there’s so many women going through such similar experiences. I had both ovaries removed and went straight onto hrt, it would be worth seeing the GP just to put your mind at rest.🫶
