I was diagnosed last March in Brighton via laparoscopy but non specialist general gynae surgeon. I did so much chasing to even get a letter detailing where they found it (most places 🙃) I got re-referred by GP to specialist urogynaecology and endometriosis teams and on their waiting lists over a year and minimum 6 months left for urogynaecology and more for endo team. I’m still struggling daily so decided to go private for a consultation to consider other treatments but the local specialist to me Miss Rebecca Malick has stopped privately practising.
Is it worth having a one off private consultation post diagnosis from your experiences and if it is, anyone in East Sussex/Brighton/Norfolk you would recommend whose accredited endo specialist?
Thank you 💛

We understand that receiving the right care and treatment is extremely important. However, we aren't allowed to name specific surgeons in this forum as it is a public site connected to Endometriosis UK and there are potential legal consequences.
We understand how challenging it is to find an experienced consultant to ensure the best treatment for you (it is something we all struggle with!)...
The best place to start with this is on the BSGE website which provides a list of accredited endometriosis centres that have endo consultants who can give you the high quality care you deserve. You can search for a centre in East Sussex/Brighton/Norfolk here: bsge.org.uk/centre/
Once you've found a centre, you can contact them to enquire the name of the endo specialist and ask where they practice privately (it's very common that they work both in the NHS and privately).
I would say that, considering the situation with the current waiting times, it could definitely be worth paying for a private consultation if it's an option for you. We lose so much time to this illness, and receiving treatment more quickly can really improve quality of life. It's completely your decision.
Hope you can find an appropriate consultant soon 😊
