New pain: I’m new to this site but not new... - Endometriosis UK
New pain
I seem to get flare ups every other month or so where I feel there’s a pressure in my rectum (tmi but literally right on/in my bum hole) I get so panicked that it’s something more sinister but know it can be a symptom of Endo or with difficult/changing bowel movements can cause pressure/pain but it’s so hard to know what is what!
Yes! I’m exactly in the same situation: about a year ago I started experiencing strong pain in my rectum and had no idea what it was. I search and searched online and realised it could be linked to endometriosis. Then I started noticing it would happen just before and on the first 2 days of my period. Each month was getting worse and after about 8 months I was shaking in terror the days leading to my periods. The pain happens mainly before bowel movement and it feels like something stabbing and electrocuting you inside the rectum, I am literally on the floor screaming. After months of back and forth with my GP, I finally managed to get an MRI and see a specialist who confirmed I had endometriosis between my uterus and rectum. I was told it’s very rare to have it only there and that’s the only symptom I ever had. Hope this helps…
HiYes i had pain 'in the bum' too stabby pains on and off. I had endo on my bowel. From my experience and talking to others it is quite common.
Hi Shakiera, it's a normal symptom of endometriosis - if you have endo on your rectum. I do and it gives me all kinds of symptoms. If it's new, I would see to it that you see an endo specialist a-sap and ask them to investigate. Endo doesn't show up on ultrasounds in most cases. MRI is your best shot. Hope that helps x
Hi - yes i have this and I am experiencing this pain right now. You have my sympathy. I have recto vag endo and it is so painful. I had a lap almost exactly a year ago to excise the endo, unstick my womb from my bowel... remove a cyst etc. It took about 8 months to feel any benefit from the operation but it has helped a bit. I also have adenomyosis. I go to a pelvic floor PT who has also helped me loads. I also thought it was something more sinister and had a flexi sigmoidoscopy but that was clear. The rectal spasm and pressure is horrible, but, the pelvic exercises I am doing really help the day to day. Unfortunately the time of the month still hurts like hell. x
