Hello I’m struggling at the moment with really intense pain on my right side (groin area ) sharp, dull and stabbing burning pains
I wa referred to a gynaecologist in the beginning of 2020 (still waiting) all I do is chase it up I just think they don’t want to see me because there’s lots of Endo standard treatments that I am not able to have like hormones etc (because of quite complex medical history)
Ive been prescribed Codine 30 mg, parecetamol and inrophen
Apparently that all I can have…..
I know there are lots of other people in the same boat waiting Etc I’ve just had enough now
I am going to adjust my diet to see if this helps (again)
Is there anything else I could try please
Okay Wednesday rant over…..

Hi Prettythings1 I totally understand your frustration, the appointments seem to take forever. You can ask your GP to expedite your appointment, they can contact the gynaecologist and ask for you to be seen sooner. I know what you mean that you feel you are constantly chasing them up, I am doing the same and getting nowhere. My pain before any diagnosis was right hand sided pain, horrific pains actually which they thought was appendicitis. I was even booked in for the surgery to have my appendix removed until a doctor came in and said my symptoms don’t quite match appendicitis but gynaecology instead.
Are you waiting for a laparoscopy?
Have you had an MRI?
I have both endometriosis and adenomyosis.
I am now on Codeine and tramadol as my pains are labour like. Have you been offered these meds?
Some people seem to get offered morphine, whilst I have been on that after my many hospital admissions for pain, my GP refuses to give me this at home.
I was diagnosed with adenomysis in 2015 and endometriosis on my ovaries and pouch of Douglass in 2015 via a laparoscopy
I since have had 2 children but my symptoms seems much worse after having them both!
I seem to be getting PMS type symptoms every two weeks it’s horrendous the pain is constant not just before my period.
Not had an MRI yet I will ask for one,
I’ve been told I can’t have tramadol because I have epilepsy
To be honest I do not like taking strong painkillers because I have two young children I like to be ‘with it’ and be able to function I’m stuck really!
Definitely send me a message if you want to chat or rant xx
I know what you mean about tramadol it’s wickedly strong stuff and if you have 2 children you wouldn’t cope being on this medication. Sorry you are 1 in 10, it’s so hard isn’t it x
Sorry to hear you’re suffering. I have the right sided pain too, just as you describe. I was diagnosed with endo in 2015 after I was rushed in with suspected appendicitis but they actually found the appendix stuck to other places by endo. I’ve since been diagnosed with adenomyosis too. I would recommend trying to cut down caffeine, and I drink lots of lemon and ginger tea which seems to help. Gentle yoga when you can,( I know it’s not easy to find those pain free days). I also manage the pain by taking painkillers as soon as I know my period is here (regardless of if there is any significant pain) so para, & ibuprofen alternate every 2 hours ( make sure you eat to protect your tummy) and codeine to get some sleep. I have found that tranexamic acid has reduced the bleeding slightly (from golf ball sized clots to 20p sized clots, sorry tmi!) that seems to have reduced the pain a little. Doesn’t get rid, but does make it more manageable. If you haven’t been offered tranexamic acid I’d maybe ask if you can try it. It’s one of the treatments that has no known side effects (that I’m aware of) so it’s worth a go. Doesn’t work for everyone. Hope this helps x
Hi - I get exactly that pain. The only painkiller that would touch it for me is diclofenac/difene. I’ve had surgery and now on decapeptyl and it has improved dramatically but still there a bit. Other thing is to take a laxative, mine is much worse when I’m constipated. It’s a horrible exhausting pain I sympathise hugely. I hope you find something that helps🥰
