Decapeptyl wearing off before next jab- Endo?

harley_quinn_pains profile image

hi everyone, ive been taking decapeptyl 11.25mg injections for a year now and i find it wears off a few weeks/ a week before my next jab and i still get some pain while having the injection. the injection has made the pain a little more bearable than the original pain i had where i could barely walk or get up. my doctors says if i get pain while on these 3 month injections its not endo or a gynaecology problem as they shouldnt wear off. despite everyone else not having a clue either. im getting sent for an MRI but i cant help but feel that she may be wrong.

Has anyone else experienced their injections wearing off too? have you been diagnosed with endometriosis? im 18 and honestly its frightening cause i faint due to the pains and my family havent experienced it before nor do they know what to do either. any feedback would be helpful as im honestly desperate to relieve this pain for a bit.

Hi I get the decepeptyl 11.25mg every month and it wears off about a week before I get my next jab. I have never heard of a doctor saying to me that if it wears off it’s not endo or adeno related. I was told if I feel better on the injections then this is “mimicking” a hysterectomy and that surgery would work for me. Sounds like you need to get yourself a better GP, are you under gynaecology at the moment? Do the injections work for you?

I am coming off of mine as I have dips in my mental health which I never had before.

Do you take HRT too?

Xx

Hi, i didnt know you could get the decapepyl injection every month, ive only ever had it every 3 months. yeah i was told the injection would stop my ovaries working and basically shut them down and put me into a menopausal state. yeah im under gynecology atm and she is the person who has told me this. the injections dont take the pain completely away however they do help lessen the strength of pain i usually have. and yes i also am on HRT.

thank you for your insight aswell its really helpful. my gynecologist was going to take me off the injections as she is pretty confident that the injections shouldnt wear off and that i dont have any gynecology related problems. through she gave me the injection on perscription anyway as a back up. i was pretty frustrated cause i hadnt seen her in a year due to covid and struggled to get the appointment to see her again.

i also had affected mental health however it was due to the amount of pain and restricted independance.

did you ever take the injection every 3 months?

xx

Hi. I am only offered the 11.25mg every month as it definitely wouldn’t last me the 3 months. After about 3 weeks I can feel it wearing off, the pain starts to kick in and I also have some bleeding on and off throughout too. Also told it’s not a long term solution and i will need a hysterectomy. I am 39 though. What have they told you will happen given you are 18? So sorry at your age you are going through this, it’s so hard isn’t it xx

its very difficult judging by how my grandmother was the only one to have a milder case and she didnt have many symptoms that im aware of, im sorry you have to go through that aswell, i cant imagine how difficult it must be to come to terms with getting a hysterectomy. they havent really given me much answers to be honest, im getting an MRI in october to check for anything, i was only supposed to have 2 injections over the course of 6 months, though about 3 to 4 weeks after the injections kicked in they wear off which my gynecologist hasnt said anything about monthy injections as she says there are only to be taken every 3 months and my nurse has even refused to give the injection even a week early.

the gynecologist was going to arrange a lap if the injections took the pain away completely. honestly its been a bit of a roller coaster and i really have to fight to get them to believe my situation or give my some insight even though ive fainted so many times, cry myself to sleep due to the pain and even felt a pop on my left side of the abdomen and even had spotting after. which i mentioned to them and she kind of just passively said "sure". had my mum with me and everything and we could barely get anything out of her. i hope your pains get better with a hysterectomy however, and when you do get it i wish you a quick recovery.

xx

Thank you that’s kind, if I were you I would go to a different GP, there are some good ones out there. I have seen a few who had put it down to IBS and they seem to be quite dismissive of you are younger which is really sad and not on! Coming back as a man in the next life I think 🥰

no problem at all xx

yeah ive had a lot of people tell me its IBS which i mean i dont doubt that maybe i might have it too but having zero periods for 2 years and being irregular since i was about 14 doesn't sit right with me ahah. hopefully this MRI will tell me something. and yeah definitely, think might give an animal or sm a go next time.

youd think if theres all of us people here and the fact we all have different variations of the same thing theyd try to be open minded and investigate further.

Hi harley_quinn_pains,I'm the same as AllthatGlitters! I have mine every month and about a week before my next one they start to wear off! I'm thinking of coming off them now as I've been getting really bad headaches recently, but not sure if I can handle the pains! It's not a great choice either way! I've been diagnosed with stage 4 endo and I'm waiting for a total hysterectomy. I hope u get some help xx

i see many people saying they get the same injection monthly, i have the same dosage and told they last 3 months and they barely last me 2! im sorry to hear your getting bad headaches however, that must be awful to try and choose between 2 different pains. ive only experienced flashes of pain in my head. i hope your hysterectomy helps and you have a good recovery after! thank you and hope your pains wont be too bad if you do come off the injection i know stage 4 is awful!
