I tried angelica root a few years ago - it was sold to me with the assistant telling me it was good for "feminine issues" - for about a tenner and I can't say I noticed a difference after I took it for about 3 months.

However, different things work for different people and that isn't to say it wouldn't work you. Sometimes it is a bit of trial and error.

Yes i agree. These are blends of many chinese herbs in distinct amounts, and its not cheap but ive read a lot about it online and studies have also confirmed they work but im put off by the amount if it doesnt. Hard isnt it. I take a ton of suppliments and have for a few years but they dont seem to be working for me any more 😭.

If you’re on medication from GP and you do buy any, make sure you know exactly what the ingredients are. I do like herbal remedies, but they can clash with manufactured medication and stop them working sufficiently.

For this and fibroids I’ve only tried Turmeric so far, it didn’t do anything for me.

Is the company you spoke to accredited with a known UK organisation and they have the appropriate qualifications?

When I lived in China I tried one. I can’t remember the name, but it was a blend. I only did it for 2months or so. It made me feel like I was taking contraceptive pill. I didn’t take it long enough to know if it would help. The side effects made me feel horrible, down, gaining weight, etc. But that was what Chinese doctors said helped with female issues and they used to prescribe it to every female problem. Who knows...

Here in the UK I’ve tried Dong Quai and I can’t take it everyday. It makes me feel inflamed like a balloon. But if I have a lot of pain during my period sometimes I take it and it alleviates it. It does make me bleed a lot during period, tho. But I guess it helps because it increases blood circulation to the pelvic area. I still can’t take it everyday without getting tender breasts, etc. All oestrogen signs.

But a lot of what is said to be good for oestrogen imbalances may cause oestrogen flare ups, supposedly. For example, DIM is meant to help balance oestrogen but it gives me horrible side effects. Again it may be that I just needed to get horrible side effects to get pass the healing crisis and flare up of symptoms or maybe they just make things worse. Anyways, most things should be used for more than 3 months to be rightfully judged.

If you are going to buy check the ingredients and if it is certified in the UK. A lot of Chinese herb blends use strange ingredient.

Thankyou fpr your reply and all the information. Im sorry it all made you feel so horrible. I know my hormones are changing because now my ovulation pain is worse and the second half of my cycle i get bad anxiety, and its all just hormone related. Im absolutely fine the first half. I get a lot of pain during ovulation because my tubes go into spasm, ive found a blend that is supposed to help with that. There are good reviews and some that say they didnt notice a difference. In the meantime ive got progesterone cream arriving today or tomorrow. When i did ivf i felt great when i was on progesterone. I had some unpleasant side effects for about a week and then i felt great! Maybe ill try the herbs for ten days and see how they make me feel before i invest in a few months worth.

That’s a great plan. My hormones have been the same as your after ovulation. I’m not sure what can help. I’ve been taking vitex which helps with some of the symptoms.

I took vitex for a while and i was in even more pain it was awful for me so i avoid it now. For my anxiety/pms ive started taking high strength st johns wort, evening primrose oil and calms, just for the second half of my cycle. My dr gave me antidepressents but thet made me feel sick so i stopped after a week.

Were you taking the antidepressants only on the second half of the month or everyday? My doctor said we could do antidepressants but I’d nha W to take it everyday so it would actually have an effect. So I said no.
