Hi. I have begun to suspect for a while now that I have endometriosis due to symptoms such as chronic bloating, painful sex, painful periods and shooting pains in the rectum whilst on my period. My doctor referred me to the hospital for an ultrasound scan, which I attended today. The nurse said that this scan would not reveal if I had endometriosis or not - she did both an ultrasound of the lower abdomen/pelvis and an internal vaginal exam with the probe wand-like imaging thing. She mentioned that my womb looked fine (tilted backwards, apparently, whatever that means) however my ovaries are 'polycystic' and that I should go back to my GP to discuss next steps. I do not think I have polycystic ovary syndrome. However, could this mean that I have ovarian cysts, an indicator and/or complication of endometriosis. Should I expect a laparoscopy/otomy to confirm? Has anyone with endo also had polycystic ovaries, ovarian cysts? Please help! Thanks in advance x x x

Polycystic ovaries and endo?!
Hello 👋🏾. The thought of both can be so overwhelming. I was actually diagnosed with PCOS first, after staying on birth control to suppress my pain the pain continued. After about 2 months my doctor mentioned the Lap and then I found out I have endometriosis as well!!!!
After she taken out adhesions due to endometriosis, the pain was still there. That’s how I stumbled upon my 2nd Lap and the removal of my Fallopian Tubes. The second time around she did find a cyst on my ovaries.
I was diagnosed at 2 separate times and I am so glad I went through with laparoscopy. It helps the doctor and yourself know what’s going on in there. You shouldn’t be in pain everyday and the pain is worst when you don’t know where it’s coming from or what to expect.
Hopefully I gave you some insight. I truly wish you well
Thank you for your reply, it was very helpful and informative, and I'm so sorry to hear about your suffering. My doctor has discussed the findings of the ultrasound with me today: my uterus is tilted, I have cysts on my ovaries (but they are not enlarged) and I have fluid in the pouch of Douglas. He has told me to expect more blood tests to rule out Pcos and a lap for diagnosing endo once we are back to normal after the coronavirus outbreak.
I just wanted to add: I have viewed your other post about endo affecting your relationship and I am so very sorry to hear this. I don't have any relevant experience to share with you but I hope this community can offer you some support and at least not make you feel that you are facing everything alone. What you have been through is awful and you must be a very strong lady. None of this is your fault and I hope you can find your way back to the upbeat funny lady you say you are. Wish you all the best x x x
Hiya I have had both, on your ultrasound they can see the size of the cysts in your ovaries, if the pain is fairly high and linked to endometriosis a laparoscopic key hole surgery will most likely be proposed to you to diagnose and treat. It isn’t a treatment that’s 100% but it is a great and helpful treatment. Hope this helps !!!
I had polymorphic ovaries when they did my TV scan and they were enlarged too. Doctors were unwilling to say if it was PCOS at the time due to the fact I was on the depo inj.
I went on the combined pill not long after and my pain did get less. I had a laparoscopy done in March, when they found endo but didn't mention any cysts on my ovaries (however I had a tiny adhesion there which was removed).
I still have some pain around my ovaries but I'm unsure if there are any cysts still there. However I would not be surprised if they told me I did have PCOS as well as endo one day as I have an awful lot of body hair and painful around my ovaries.
Hope you find answers soon 💕
