Supporting my family
Hi Katy, I’m so sorry that you are suffering so much it really is one of the most challenging and misunderstood conditions. It’s vague and erratic presentation makes it hard for people to understand. I am a lot further down the diagnosis line than you are and hopefully they will be able to help get you back to work. But I completely understand your worry about money and work; My absence from work has now led to me being advised to take ill health retirement and I’m in the process of trying to sort that out to know what that means financially. I am a single parent and was working full time in London as a psychologist so not working has been a big change! I am currently receiving support from universal credit as well as family. Once the retirement stuff is arranged bigger decision around selling my house and moving will be thought through. It is all such an unknown I am trying very hard to go day by day so as not to get overwhelmed by worry. I’m not sure what support you will be entitled to as your husbands income would come into it but you can explore it. I have also been advised to apply for PIP which isn’t affected by whether you are working and is about what you can and can’t do in daily activity. Not sure I have helped much but if you have more questions please ask I am happy to share my experiences of helpful. Xx
