Am waiting for an appointment for an MRI ordered by my consultant last week and just wondered if anyone who has had one can give me some more info.....
Is it just a straight forward scan or do they usually put a contrast in to show the endo up in any way?
Do they normally just do the pelvic area or the whole abdomen - there has been suggestion that upper abdomen pains I get could be endo by GP but forgot to mention to consultant.
Does it make any difference where you are in cycle? In zoladex trial so wondered if this makes a difference in picking it up?
When I had mine, they just gave me an injection to stop the movement of the stomach for a while during the scanning ( it has no side effects at all and I felt fine)
Then the scan takes about 30 minutes or a little more.
As I answered before, they just scanned the pelvic area.
They asked me if my period was late, but it had no effect on the scanning. Maybe mention if you are on your period is a good thing.
Maybe after finishing you'll feel some headache, but in general all went really good.
Had mine yest, just the injection no dye. In for 40 mins, lots of noise so had banging headache after. Just waiting for results. They scanned up to kidneys. 4 weeks for results 😬
Hi i have had 2 mri for endo one with contrast one without it all depends on what they want to see i had buscopan for both i think they give that to everyone as it relaxes the bowel. I am also waiting for another one. Makes no difference where you are in your cycle or any medication you are on for it when it comes to the scanning
