Hey all... so I’ve been waiting all summer for a specialist appointment, finally went last week and they sent me away... they said it sounds a lot like IBS and they want me to go back to GP. I asked about the symptoms I get only during my period, and some symptoms I have that aren’t IBS symptoms and they told me to just ‘wait and see’. I’ve since started my period and had such intense pain and cramping I had to be sent home from work on Monday. This is becoming something of a trend now and I’m missing shifts quite a lot. I work in a pub so any day missed is a day I’m not getting paid. I just feel really disheartened and disappointed and not sure really what to do as I don’t feel like anyone is listening to me.
Disappointing : Hey all... so I’ve been... - Endometriosis UK
Disappointing
Aww..I'm so sorry to hear this..sounds like you had a dick of a doctor..some don't seem to give a shit! Keep going back hun as they don't know what your going through..keep pushing until someone takes notice! It take a while but the more fuss you make the more your heard xx
have you made a diary with a page a month? put on it you cycles / ovulation / all your symptoms / bowel movements / pain levels, where the pain is / periods / heaviness / pain medication. Then take that to your specialist and explain it doesn't look like IBS, you want to be taken seriously.
What treatment would you like? As usually if you tell them what you want doing they will often pay attention as you're pushing for a diagnosis. Endo is a lap so you'll need to push for that first then removal of endo (if they find it), possibly push for both at the same time.
It's awful that we have to make docs listen.
Yeah I have been making notes, she read through them and commented that I had a lot. I said this has been going on for long enough now so thats why there is so many. I'm not sure what I need to happen from this I'm just fed up of feeling miserable all the time. I've revamped my diet completely, cut out all the things they say exacerbates IBS and I've read books etc and it makes little to no difference. I just feel all over the place, I get so upset every time my period comes. Its really ruining my life
could you get referred to another specialist for a second opinion? is it an endo specialist that you saw?
