'Old endometriosis'

What does it mean when 'old endo' is found? I had my previous surgeon mention this.

I did a search of this site and found contradictory replies - some people saying if meant non-active endo, others saying still active and should be removed. Does anyone know for sure? I even did a literature review and the journal articles about it are contradictory as well. Another doctor told me it might have mean this surgeon saw the sites where endo had been removed from a previous surgery.

Thanks!
