Zoladex- The after effects

Hi There,

I have just come off my 6 monthe for severe endo and have had my surgery to see if it has worked, which it appears to have (thank goodness). The effects of zoladex have been brutal. Especially the lack of sleep due to night sweats etc was driving me crazy. I’m just wondering how long it seems to stay in your system for. I don’t know how much more I can take!My specialist doesn’t seem to understand how intense it has been and isn’t really offering much info which is why it’s songood to have a support group like this.

Also, have any of you experienced success in falling pregnant relatively soon after using??

Unfortunately whilst zoladex may help with symptoms by stopping periods it will not stop endo from progressing and is not a recommended treatment for severe endo. It will be out of your system quickly but the effects can take a few months to reverse as the ovaries have to start working again. If you are in the UK you need referral to a BSGE accredited endo centre. Have a look at the NHS contract for treatment of severe endo:

Unfortunately the chances of conceiving with severe endo are slim (although some do) and excision of all lesions is the best way forward. This is covered at section 3.2 of the ESHRE guideline below:
