Endo treatment and diagnosis

Hi guys I've been reffered to my gynaecologist again due to my pain getting worse by the day and other end symptoms. I have an appointment on the 9th of august to speak about the next step, I'm hoping the next step is surgery to diagnose endo, if anyone has gone through a endo diagnosis in their early 20s I'd love to hear your stories and how you deal with the pain 😊

Hey!!

I'm 20 and I've suffered with every endo symptom for 7 years now and I'm still struggling to get a diagnosis.

I'd highly suggest seeing an endo specialist rather than a gynae doing your surgery as it's often missed.

I had surgery on 30th June by a general gynae and he said everything appears normal and I was distraught because I was made to feel again like it's all in my head.

I'm now paying to see an endo specialist on Monday who I'm hoping will refer me back to NHS for surgery again that he will do as he works for both NHS and private.

As for managing my pain, I'm on slow release morphine every day as well as fast release as needed! I also am on antisickness tablets so control the nausea! Xx

Hey Carly, I am 22 and about to have my second laparoscopy to treat endometriosis. I'm sorry you're suffering but that's great that you have a referral. I would definitely recommend bringing as much information with you to the appointment, like a diary of when your last periods were, a full list of your symptoms, how it affects your life and if anything like exercise sets them off, and a timeline of when your pains started and what scans or medication you use to control it, also a list of questions you want to ask. I always feel a bit mad bringing my notebook with me to appointments but it is so hard to get a referral, I always want to discuss everything I can and help them get a better understanding of what is going on. Don't be afraid to explain your frustrations to them or ask directly for surgery. Good luck for your appointment, feel free to message me if you like. Take care xxx
