Hello Ladies!

I went to see my consultant yesterday and she has now referred me for IVF after TTC for over 5 years. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what to expect, or what their experience with IVF has been like, as I'm really not sure what to expect. I've read up on it as much as I can but it would be nice to real experiences. X

Hi Hope your okay. Firstly they will do blood tests to ascertain whether there are any problems. Dont see this as a negative as it is always good to rule things out. Also they may try fertility drugs first for a short time as these may help you to conceive. Once they move you onto IVF they will apply for funding, once this has been okayed you will then see your designated fertility nurse. You will be given injections (dont worry the nurse will give you full directions) at this stage you will go for regular scans to see how your folicles are progressing. Once they are happy with this you will have one final injection this will help you produce numerous eggs. You will attend a hospital appointment to remove the egg and your partner will be there to provide a sperm sample. Once this has been done, you will leave the hospital and they contact you to discuss whether you have any embryos and when you need to come back for the transfer (usually three to five days after). You will re-attend the hospital and have the embryo transferred. After this you will take a pregnancy test approx 14 days after.

Hope this helps.

Hi there, I hope you are fine. I read your post carefully. You lack awareness in IVF. IVF is the transfer of the embryo to mother uterus to make her pregnant. In some cases, it failed at the beginning. My friend had her IVF from the clinic in London. Her first two attempt was unsuccessful. Third was successful. She was pregnant. Don’t hesitate and go for it. Best of luck dear friend.
