I had a laproscopy yesterday to treat endometriosis and have found it really sore? Did anyone feel the same?

Also how long before you were back to normal activities.

yes it is very sore...not only the stab wounds but any work done inside you takes a few weeks of healing - the worst pains are from the trapped gas they pump in to blow up the tummy - that will rise up to the diaphragm just under the ribs- BUT the pain is felt in th shoulder blades area and can be really really uncomfy.

Keep on top of the pain killers for a few days at least until you have got rid of the trapped gas, then see what you are left with from the actual surgery pain side of things,

The stabs will be healed up in a fortnight or so- though on the surface they could look healed up much quicker.

Inside wounds - if you had excisions or lasering will take quite a bit longer and may tweek twinge and tickle for a few weeks.

You should really have a couple of weeks off work before trying to get back in to gentle activities. If you do over do things it will hurt as a warning sign - so ease off till you are stronger. Don't try lifting anything heavy or undertaking sporting exercises for about 10 weeks. Just potter about the house or go for gentle walks while the healing process takes place.

It was at least a month before I felt normal. Sorry. I think doctors give a false impression of how long it should take, probably because they haven't had it done. My husband had to help me stand from sitting for almost a week! Hope u feel better soon. Good luck. X

Hi, my first laparoscopy was painful and sometimes I think it was more so that my full open surgery, as you cannot see as much wounding from the outside it is difficult to get your head around the fact that you have still had intrusive surgery.

I found peppermint tea a great relief from the pain of the gas symptoms, and gentle walking around the house helped to move it all through

I was in pain for about a month and then took it easy for the next month, defo no lifting for a long time.

It will get better, its just hard to think like this when you are in pain and feeling a bit less independent.

Good Luck xx

I had my first lap a week and a half ago now and still feeling pretty sore, can't really do anything physical at all, even just reaching up to put plates in the cupboard hurts! Still in soft clothes as the area around the stitches (I have 4 holes in my tummy) is quite bruised. I got a note for 2 weeks off work from the hospital but my job is pretty physically demanding so I'm going to go back to GP and ask for a bit more time. I'm also exhausted just from doing small things so I'd really struggle on an 8 hour shift on my feet the whole time. I guess everyone is different and recovers differently - I know I bruise really easily, you should see my hand from the cannula - it's beuatifully green and yellow right now! So I'm guessing my insides are all still bruised as well.

I think all of us endo sufferers know our bodies pretty well and have learnt to read pain well, so I'm just going to take it easy, trying a bit more each day but listening when my body says "that's enough"!

Wishing you all the best for a speedy recovery, xx

I had my first laprorscopy last year when I found out I had endometriosis. It took me around 3 to 5 weeks until I felt normal with no pain or discomfort. Docs told me to keep up with my painkillers and drink plenty of fluids. Try not to eat anything to heavy for your stomach some think light like soup and ginger biscuits, drink green tea and fruit tea as there is less caffeine in it. I fount out this helped me as I was of my food from all the pain and discomfort.

I was okay after a week althought at a week and half i felt really sick one day but apart from that not too bad was the gas that did me and the constipation. I drove after 4 days. Still sore now but it feels nothing compared to me having major foot surgery so maybe thats why i bounced back a bit quicker.Because the first time i had it in 2011 i had a horrendous time chin up it will get better. Im still very bloated and im nearly 4 weeks now x

I had to have my partner help mr up and down for about 2days after op, after a week i was back to looking after my son full time and doing house work all though because of the pain im in (what i thought was Endo pain) i struggle walking to the local shop ect as the pain just takes over. So been pretty much house bound unless some one is driving me (me or my partner cant drive yet).
