Hi Balvirdee
I had a LAVH which is a vaginal hysterectomy with a laparascopy at the same time. I was off work 10 weeks in total. The reason for this was partly due to my job which was physical and where I was on my feet all day and partly due to having had many gynae operations over a short period of time.
I wanted to be fully fit when I returned to work and so took my recovery from the hysterectomy slowly and carefully. My GP was supportive and willing to gve me as long as necessary. I also felt it would be easier for my employer if I had one <albeit lengthy> episode of sick leave at a time rather than coming back to work too soon and having to go off again.
If you are still in pain or in doubt about when you should go back to work then I would talk it over with your GP.
Hope you feel better and stronger soon
Caroline, x
