Hi ladies, am looking for a good surgeon ... - Endometriosis UK
Hi ladies, am looking for a good surgeon to cope with class 4 (feels more like 10!) endometriosis.Would travel anywhere for right suurgeon
I am not connected to this site but have been around a while and I have noted that the site generally does not permit public recommendations of individual surgeons so anyone with suggestions should probably send a private message. Communications containing recommendations generally get deleted. This is because of legal liability reasons I believe.
All best wishes
Hi
stevieflp is right - we don't allow individual consultants to be named on this forum for a number of reasons. But we do suggest that you look at the BSGE website - bsge.org.uk - where you will find a list of their accredited and provisionally accredited endometriosis centres, of which there are about 18 fully accredited and 23 provisional centres.
This is a good place to start as all will have fulfilled the criteria to be listed here. This includes performing at least 12 operations on severe endometriosis each year, but also a named multi-disciplinary team, a endometriosis clinic and in most cases a specialist endometriosis nurse to help manage your treatment. There are also a few very good centres which are not yet part of this scheme.
We do allow you to ask and receive feedback about the centres themselves as long as individual practitioners aren't mentioned.
I hope this helps and best of luck with finding the best place for you.
Helen
Can recommend Arrowe park hospital on the wirrall. Or the John radcliffe hospital in oxford.
I have been to both for endo operations and they are brilliant.
Good luck.
The UCLH endo centre is great.
I had surgery by one of the other endo centres, and then went to the best one in the country (Mr. Trehan's in Elland) and my results were amazing! I'd highly recommend you go straight to the best in Elland instead of being messed around elsewhere!
THANKS FOR RESPONSE LADIES. WASN'T OUT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT ATROCIOUS SURGEONS. ALREADY HAD ONE OF THOSE WHEN FIRST DIAGNOSED. THINK POSITIVE FEEDBACK IS A GOOD THING AND ANY RECOMMENDATION FROM A FELLOW SUFFERER IS WORTH WEIGHT IN GOLD. OUR CONDITION IS CHALLENGING ENOUGH WITHOUT HAVING TO SIFT THROUGH LISTS OF SURGEONS WHO MAY/MAY NOT LACK COMPASSION/EXPERTISE.
