Another bit of a strange one.

This is a little odd. For years now when I first wake up,not every time but say 50-75% of the time whether in the morning or in the night (and this is the only time that this occurs), My vision is a bit affected.

It took me a while to realise this but my left eye and right eye somehow in the first few seconds after I wake up, process what I see differently in each eye. This creates a very odd situation where I see objects in the distance as normal but a second linked object in close view, which is linked to it. Its hard to describe. The effect is only for a few seconds and once awake, does not return until the next time I sleep. If I realise what the object is and focus both eyes on it, the effect dissapears. Very weird and never had anything like it before

I know this is very odd, has anyone heard of anything like that. Its like my eyes are focusing differently, just for a few seconds. The thing is the brain must be involved as normally i would just expect the effect to be that something is out of focus but in my case I see two focused objects, one near, one far (well more than one object involved but same principle)

I’ve had different issues with my left eye but not the ones you describe which sounds very disconcerting in those first moments. As you say our brains do play tricks on us though. I assume you’ve tried different sleeping positions?

Hi Wygella

Because of the nature of it, I hadnt tried different sleeping positions, which I will. It did disconcert me when it first happened. Strangely now its like a morning puzzle (it lasts maybe a maximum 10 sevonds or so). It was more because of the nature of it, it seemed like it must somehow involve the brain, though I really dont know .

If it happened during the day rather than just upon first opening my eyes I would be a lot more worried.

I will try that though. Thanks!

Worth a try. But we E people live in a little world of weird but sometimes interesting things!

Wygella your so right it’s a very strange day to day experience after having Encephalitis , in particular the first few years but ours brains still throw the odd little glitch now and again .

Especially when tired! At least my family and I can laugh at my wrong words or brain jumps instead of getting upset these days.

so very true everything gets exaggerated beyond belief when you’ve done to much hearing , a crushed plastic bottle sounds like a thousand broken windows . My friends laugh when I get all their names mixed and combined .

Can't help on this I'm afraid. Sounds like a damaged optic nerve?

Something I will look into. Thanks Gandalf

Im sure it’s nothing to worry about and as it corrects itself like I say , our brains throw in little glitches now and again . Personally I would have it checked out by a specialist,
