Anyone else with hypothyroidism? Does being undermedicated for your thyroid make your eds worse and if yes then in what way? More hyper mobile? I'm suspecting that's the case for me.

Hypothyroidism
I'm afraid I don't know the answer to this, but I'd love too.
I am aware that there's a higher incidence of both symptomatic hypermobility and hypothyroidism amongst autistic people, so that may possibly indicate some sort of link.
Hypothyroidism is found in about 2% of the UK population and in more than 5% of those over 60. Women are 5 to 10 times more likely to be affected than men.
so hypothyroid problems are far more common in the population than EDS, and EDS and hypothyroidism is more common in women. But that doesn't mean that EDS causes hypothyroidism or visa versa.
However, inflammation generally has effects that can be found around the body. So if there is any inflammation from say a tendon tear or some random injury, then that can have a knock on effect around the body. And what can happen is the immune system can start to go into overdrive due to its genetic predisposition
So there might not be a link as such, but it is possible that the inflammation from one will be effecting the other. Or that both are causing inflammation together, to create emerging properties, things that each on its own might not be so bad but together can become worse.
I also have psoriatic arthritis, and when I was taking medication to damp down the inflammation with that, my thyroid started working again and I felt better. It wasn't that the thyroid wasn't working, or that I had psoriatic arthritis, it was the inflammation caused by my immune system attacking my body that was the problem. Remove the inflammation and everything gets better.
Was I more hypermobile? Nope, not at my age and with my arthritis!
