Anyone else with EDS have severe asthma?

I’m just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation as me and has EDS and severe, uncontrolled asthma?

Now I know that the two aren’t linked but I’m just curious. I have many other health issues that aren’t related to EDS and are very rare so I rarely find anyone to talk to that has similar issues ☹️

I hope you are all as well as possible 😊

Who said they aren't linked? There is a form of asthma which is directly caused by/related to eds.

Sorry, I should have been more specific and said there is no causative/direct link. You can find correlations between virtually anything and asthma is such a common illness (albeit not severe asthma) and it occurs in higher rates with most with chronic illness. And that study is not a causative study, just a correlation study but the point of my post was not the about the link between EDS and asthma, I was just looking to see if there was anyone else in the same position with severe asthma 🙂

Yes, I too had the same problem. A respiratory physio gave me lots of correct breathing exercises. I did not know that my not breathing correctly bec of EDS exacerbated my asthma. After 3 months of respiratory physio exercises my asthma improved and diet without dairy ( even though I am not allergic to dairy) reduced my asthma so much that I only need one puffer now.

That is very interesting. I’m not a severe asthmatic, I’m moderate and very well controlled - with one exception: I cannot do sustained aerobic exercise (such as running for more than a hundred to two hundred metres or so). I never have been able to; not even taking ventolin beforehand helps with it.

I believe recent research has shown that exercise induced asthma is down to an incorrect breathing pattern. It would be fascinating to find out whether this is partly due to the fact that it’s made more difficult for me because I have Hypermobility Syndrome.

Switching to a vegan diet has helped my asthma (and even hayfever/ allergjes). I used to have asthma attacks with hayfever multiple times a week but I haven't needed my inhaler at all!
