I started choking on a crumb sunday night, before long it felt like my throat felt like it had closed,it was like breathing through a pin prick,I needed help but could not speak,I phoned my bestie knowing as he has asthma he would know what to do,I remembered a very old asthma pump in the bathroom cupboard and found it had some in,I felt very light headed so opened the door to get some air, that didnt work, tried a squeeze of the pump and over next fifteen minutes I could breath much better,I have experienced many things but honestly thought I was at the end, looking back I should have called an ambulance but I could not speak,I am housebound and live alone, have thyroid disease and wondered if anyone had a similar kind of thing, honestly,If you can choke on a crumb or your own spit things are not normal, are they?

Hello,

You should be more careful.. Sometimes this chronic fatigue may cause some abnormal spasms and muscle craps, also in your throat (respiratory system). I think it was just really bad timing, in your case.

Sometimes I also get one of those cramps, it feels like a tiny hiccup, but it's actually your nervous system going all tingly. Cuts your breath. And if you catch a crumb, along with it, could mean trouble. Anyways, I hope it is just a onetime incident and definitely one to learn from.

I am wishing you to beat this condition, at some point, because it is possible.

Cheers

If you have autoimmune thyroid disease then asthma goes along with that as a big possibility. All kinds of autoimmune disorders do.

I personally have random choking things every other week. My throat seems to be quite sensitive. A tiny crumb or a bit of spice lands on it near the windpipe and all hell breaks loose. I have only just found out I have autoimmune thyroid disease. So I’m still untreated. I was hoping that treatment would see things stabilise and give me back some normal.

Have you been tested for anti-thyroid antibodies? If not, encourage your doctor to arrange this. You could go private with an online testing firm. I went with this: try.thriva.co/thyroid/ and used discount code HOMECHECK to get £15 off. £69 total cost.

Hi,yes I have Hashimotos but had not realised that connection,My gp had me on a tiny dose of Levothyroxine so I quickly changed to NDT,Had a nodule identified some years back but at that stage it was tiny, however, surely they can increase in size? Like you,I am always choking on stuff but because using an inhaler calmed my choking down so quickly I assumed Asthma must be the cause, confusing! Never had Asthma attack before.
