Acid Reflux

Root Ginger is great for acid reflux. Buy it whole wash and keep in fridge. Chop up a piece about thumb nail size in to small pieces add to hot water with a little sugar and stir well before drinking....eat the little pieces too. If you need fast relief chew the piece whole...it is very hot!! I am 71 and have Stage 3a C.K.D. And have become a food detective. I feel healthier now than 10 years ago. Stable describes my condition and I don't worry about the varied fluctuations in test results. Stopping the Omerprazole works for me. My hair is no longer falling out and I wonder if it caused the C.K.D. Keeping fit and less worrying is so helpful and who knows i may live to a grand older age. Good luck everyone. We are all in a similar 'boat'

How long have you been on omeprazole and at what dose? Just curious. Thanks.

I have been taking omeprazole for well over 20 years, before and now after my transplant. I was told that immunosuppressants are the cause of my acid reflux now. I take omeprazole 20mg twice a day. It does not effect my creatinine at all. Mine is holding steady for 19 years at o.9

Thanks for tip on root ginger. I will ask my gastro Doctor if it is ok for me. I am off of Omeprazole after being on it for 20 years, and new gastro Doctor took me off of it. Only take it now as needed. Do not know if it contributed to my CKD.
