Just wondering
Since abnormal means anything different than normal, and normal for GFR is 90
(according to davita.com [others say 100-120]), anything lower is abnormal. However, do not expect the medical field to let you know when you are still in stage 1, or even stage 2. In many cases, patients are not informed until stage 3, and some even later.
From davita.com, regarding creatinine:
Most men with normal kidney function have approximately 0.6 to 1.2 milligrams/deciliters (mg/dL) of creatinine. Most women with normal kidney function have between 0.5 to 1.1 mg/dL of creatinine. Women usually have lower creatinine levels than men because women, on average, have less muscle than men.
I know doctors start to worry when your creatinine is 1.5 or greater. That is also when my doctor started to look at my GFR. GFR is how well your kidneys are filtering.
