Hi,I don't know the creatinine measurements...I'm in UK. If you feel worried though it might be worth seeing a different doctor for a second opinion to put your mind at rest. Hope you manage to find reassurance soon!
Being in the UK, figures are quoted differently for creatinine levels. However, I have looked it up and a US creatinine of 1.6 is equivalent to a UK creatinine of 135, and US 2.6 is equivalent to UK 230, so you can work out from there that your creatinine doesn't appear to be too drastically raised. You also mention being having high blood pressure which is under control. If that means that it is controlled by blood pressure medication, then do check that the medication you are taking is not contributing to the raised creatinine. I say this because I, too, have one kidney (for the last 60+ years), also have high blood pressure, and my creatinine firstly increased as a direct response of taking the blood pressure medication, Losartan Potassium. The renal consultant is aware and is not concerned about this. I have also recently discovered that certain antibiotics can raise creatinine levels temporarily - sometimes quite drastically - meaning that any blood test on kidney function carried out during the course of treatment or shortly afterwards can cause alarm.
Having said all this, rather than risk undue stress from worrying about it, then, if it was me, I would speak to my doctor, if only for reassurance, and if you're still not happy perhaps ask for referral to a renal consultant.
Hi Celtic........ your right about them antibiotics only certain one I can have & im on it permantly . Amongst a lot of other medications for all my other ailments. Just thought I'd mention regarding the antibiotics as it took a long time to get the right one, keep safe ........Peggy 🌹🌹
Hi Peggy,
I'm sorry to hear that you need to take an antibiotic permanently - of extra concern when you already have kidney problems as most medications are transported through either the kidneys or liver. But if you have a condition for which there is no treatment option then thank Heavens for those antibiotics. Thank you for the pretty flowers.🙂
