I have stage 4 PKD. Saw nephrologist first time on Friday. I have been following a program for the past 4 months and lowered my creatinine from 3.9 to 3.2 and raised my GFR to 15. Have lowered my blood pressure to 120s/80s. Was very proud of my accomplishments but he didn't even mention them. Just wants to put me on bp med(calcium channel blocker) which I was just reading about that shouldn't be given to PKD patients. Also said could raise my creatinine and I've worked so hard to lower it. Not sure what to do. Don't want to take bp meds, I feel they may do more harm than good. Anyone else have this problem?

PKD and bp meds
I don't know about the other issues you've mentioned, but I see a cardiologist in addition to my nephrologist. I follow the cardiologist's advice, and the two consult with each other.
Hi Bunkin
I have kidney disease stage 3 b and have taken blood pressure medications for years. It is really important to have good blood pressure control. It can damage the kidneys if left to run high. Any good GP or nephrologist will start you on blood pressure meds as standard if you have anything over 130/90. The other enemy to the kidney is anti inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen, nurofen, diclofenac. avoid them like the plague. Hope this helps.
Christine.
to my understanding normal value for creatinine is 0.5 to 1.5 , that is y your nephrologist did not admire at it,
