IF in doubt I would ask a doctor or a pharmacist (they normally know best) .

my advice is don't take anything without the renal consultant or gps advice this has to be carefully managed

my husband has had his dose altered many times by the consultant as it can cause the parathyroid go go too active or under active & can cause your blood calcium to go too high which causes calcification of your arteries! so unless its been prescribed for him tell him don't take it! if thats what is prescribed then thats what he needs & it would be safe!

Thank you phillen, I will get him to speak to his GP.

As with any supplements, esp vitamins, consult a qualified medical practictioner if you intend to change, or take non prescription medication

Yes, my whole renal condition is down to too much calcium caused by my Vit D intake not being monitored :(

Sorry, I should have said consultant, but in my experience it has always been them that have messed up and the pharmacist that puts it right x

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies. I realise after what Googie has said just how careful we have to be.
