I am to see my Dr next week re my low platelets, he want's to give folic acid.

I am having all the symptoms of anemia, so i obviously need treatment.

Should I ask to be refered to a urologist ? I do take medication for high blood pressure.

Hi bowler. Not sure why Dr want to give you folic acid? Thought that was something to do with pregnancy?? When I had anaemia I was given an iron infusion which helped loads. Not sure why you would want to a urologist - you need to see a nephrologist for kidneys, Best of luck,

I will find out next week when I see the Dr. I certainly aint pregnant at 68!!!!!!!!!!

I was low/borderline of vitamin b12 and was given some injections earlier in the month, however I had a bad reaction to them and Dr. said for me not to have anymore,

I do know that folic acid is given with b12, I saw this on the "b12d" site, which was quite interesting. Perhaps like you say" I need a nephrologist "

I have only just found out recently by chance, that my GFR is low, [ and has been for several years but I wasn't told my Dr.!!! ] So this is all new to me.
