Because of being dyslexic I often find my self solving problems in the work place. My manger has asked me to stop doing it - am finding it really hard. Has anyone else been told to stop using thier strengths and how is the best way to go about this?

How to stop using dyslexic strength
This happened to me - For example our office manager used to drive a total of 4 hours to get polos embroidered.
I suggested we buy a embroidery machine and do it ourself. we saved money and productivity increased because the office manger was back in the office and we could make a better profit on the polos. plus he was now doing his job instead of me.
However I must warn you - solving problems that don't want to be solved can make your life hell. the office manger spent the extra time making my life hell. picking on all my work, spelling etc. being critical of everything. i had to stick the job but i didn't get credit
Beware the social dynamic! and keep your very hard to find jobs.
He might not want you to change things
- he thinks you will be distracted
- he thinks you will show him up
- he likes things the way they
- you are not seeing all of the implications of what you are doing.
- you might actually be mailing things worse
I wish you well. but try asking why he thinks you shouldn't try make improvements.
Oh, yes!
And i dare say that most of the problems of the world would be solved if the convergent thinkers actually accepted that divergent thinkers have everybody's interests at heart.
Apparently being dyslexic often means seeing the implications of things before others do.
So whilst there will be cases of people feeling challenged by others having intelligence and worried about being shown up etc., often they really haven't realised we are 'right' / 'clever' / 'creative' because we are 'right' / 'clever' / 'creative' in a different way to them.
As Einstein said, (something like) 'you can't solve the problems of today with the same mindset as created them'.
My advice is NOT to stop using your strengths.... but maybe stop using them for people that don't appreciate them.
That's why lots of dyslexic people are entrepreneurs who work for themselves and not other people!
