I am not being paid it takes my whole day I feel they are out of their minds with expectations. I am trying to reason with my husband on this he is not in a mood to be sympathetic. To be fair his mother is ninety one and on her death bed I really learned to love her as well. The problem is I also deal with attention deficit I am am artist trying not to be really angry that after being a dyslexic state worker for 15years eveyone thinks going to art school is to late. I am an art activist so I enjoy getting others to do art as well. I used to think that I needed to be alone in a room which is true sometimes. Being a creative alone is sad getting useless feedback is irritating. It takes so much patience to do all the reading involved in an art group the last time I tried the technology I have was not at a high enough level. I have learned not to screw up the computer I have a web site where I am not sure how well it is working. It is complicated. I feel better just articulating my frustration. Thanks folks just for that.

Family is not helpful! I am 64 taking care of my grandkids.
i havent a clue whats this is about
Hi Mrynelson
I think it's wonderful that you're following your true passion and passing it on to others.
I love art and I have been thinking more and more about art therapy, so don't let anyone tell you it's too late, because you are the kind of person we should all be. You've given yourself for your family for all your whole life and now the choice is yours to be happy.
Maybe try doing art with the grandchildren, hopefully they'll start to understand how incredible it is and impart that onto the rest of your family. As for you always being lumbered with the grandchildren, it's not fair, everything your husband is going through you're going through with him and he can't just step away and leave you to cope on your own. Please talk to them, I'm not saying they'll listen, I know my family doesn't, but it's gotta be worth a try. If you still feel frustrated please come back on and talk to me, I would love someone to share my frustration and passion for art with.
Put in a link to your website so we can test it. One real problem with websites is they may work or not work on the computer that created them but work beautifully (or not) on everyone else's. You find yourself trying to correct a problem that isn't there.
Problem with having an artistic stay at home job is the family seems to think you aren't busy and are just sitting around waiting for them to give you something to do. (I have my writing career pretty much on hold while caring for a sick mother with no help from my brother. I have all her appointments on a calendar above my desk because she thinks I should be able to recall them all from memory. Hello, dyslexic here.) Yeah, very frustrating and you feel angry and a little guilty that you feel angry.
Tell your critics that you are going to art classes to learn new skills to stave off senility. Too many people figure 64 is the end (despite the average lifespan being in the 80s.) No reason why you should be nothing more than an unpaid baby sitter. Hang in there!
Colonel Sanders started KFC when he was 65, its not Art but no one stopped him!
You have one life (out of the 9 It's yours to do with as you will, it isn't anyone else's! Maybe your kids need reminding of that, ask them if they will expect to work quite so hard with their grand kids at 64! It might just bring it home to them what they are asking of you, honestly some kids take the piss.
Also Art is for life not just Christmas!
The Art world is littered with artsts of all ages both famous and not some like Matisse even created art on their death bed. It is NEVER too late.
My fav though a musician, was Humphry Littleton who died at 86 and was still doing 'Im sorry I haven't a clue' with a razor sharp wit right up to the last moment.
Anyway you know 60 is the new 40
She is talking about taking a lot on and not getting time to do the stuff she wants.
i imagine that the kids are old enough to paint, for your art project, which you do by filming them, which you put on your website.
the art helps your step grandmother and the whole family appreciate that life is for living.
I hope you are well enough to keep up with your art. remember your art can be everyday, take a sketch book.
art will save us all
