Type 2s who are on metformin or diet only don't get strips etc. However if they are on sitagliptin/gliclacide or insulin which causes hypos, or their levels are really high then they will be given them.

I get 50 test strips every 6 months
I am a T2. Test strips, Contour, are prescribed for me, but I am in the process of obtaining a new tester, Freestyle, and I do get test strips for it. Glucophage instead of metformin is prescribed for me and I use it in conjunction with Insulin, Novo Rapid (After meals) and Optisulin (before bedtime). I am also started to used certain herbs to check on the effect on bloodlevels to cut down on insulin, because I have a feeling that I am insulin resistant at times.
