My first day of getting sober. Hard so far.
Day 1, drink free.: My first day of getting sober... - Drink Free
Day 1, drink free.
day 1 is better than no days at all so well done in giving it a go.
One day at a time 👍You aren't alone.
One tip: I find the NHS Drink Free Days app really easy to use and a good motivator. It sounds childish but I like collecting the stars for my drink free days. Whatever works for you I guess.
Best wishes.
10 days for me so far😂 back on the sober wagon again. Burned the candle at both ends over the festive season, spent a lot of money and had nothing to show for it except a bad head and few extra pounds!
Keep going bud
Read up ' Sober on a drunk planet' or listen to 'Sober Dave' on Spotify. Confidence grows after week one. Think of AF rewards and take it easy. In the first week you may have difficulty sleeping and feel uncomfortable but things get better gradually but steadily.
Hello DLingaz, Welcome to the forum. People drink because of the effect produced by alcohol. So, when we try to quit, naturally we will struggle. I am glad you are taking an effort before things go real bad. I tried, moderation, and then I tried staying stopped altogether but failed. It was after joining the fellowship, I was able to relate to the concepts presented in the Big book of AA. I was convinced I need to have a different perspective to handle life. I had to bring in new Ideas, emotions, and attitudes so I can handle the emotional upheavels I once had prior to come into the rooms.
Thanks for your story and advice. Day 4 now and mentally I’m a lot clearer.
Congratulations!You deserve goodness
