I have been on PD for several months now, and I'm finding that no matter how tired I am, I'm given some new energy from starting my cycle, cant sleep through the night. Does anyone else experience anything like this. This started about 4 months into my dialysis, and occurs several nights. My treatment Nurse and Neprologist say they arent familiar with this possible side effect. Any input is appreciated!

Insomnia is VERY common with dialysis people. I did nocturnal home hemo for 8 years and could never sleep so switched to extended hours in the evenings. Yes I've known many on hemo get a splurge of energy on hemo an hour or so into tx. It's something unpredictable and non explainable so I'm told. Blessings

I hope your problem is over by now. I'm sure you are familiar with dextrose and its effects. Dextrose in the PD solution may be the reason or your body fluid level miht have been increased. Have you and your caregivers studied these?
