My BUN is lower than normal range at 5.55. All liver parameters and other kidney parameters are within normal range. What could have caused BUN to be lower than normal?

Lower BUN indicates your kidney function is excellent. To further confirm that your kidney is perfect, please check Microalbuminuria , and BUN: creatinine ratio.

The other possibilities of low BUN:

(1) liver issues. protein is broken down in to aminacids in the body and urea is made in the liver.

(2) Eating too less protein

(3) in case of female if she is pregnant in 2nd or 3rd trimester !

1. BUN/Sr.Creatinine = 9.72 (Normal near lower side of the range)

2. I have been taking soaked almonds and sprouts for many years. Will the liver function give any indication of low protein issues? My liver profile is quite normal. All liver (like albumin, globulin and ratios) parameters are all in normal range. WIll that confirm I am good on protein intake? (Physical outlook: Am not low on muscle too. Not feeling week. )

3. Am male.

Don't worry at all. You seem to have a hyperactive kidney!

Excellent !

May God bless you !

Yes. Thanks I am able to view now!

You can not do much about the pancreas . The only way to preserve beta cells is to eat LCHF diet.

LCHF seems to be helping the body to reduce overall inflammation.

Are you ensuring you are taking 0.8 to 1 gm proteins for 1 kg body weight ??

my protein intake: 10 almonds, 10 walnuts, 50gms sprouts(moong/peanuts), 15 to 20 gms pumpkin seeds, may be around 40gms in dal, ( random urad dal in dosa/idli ). 1.5hrs to 2 hrs yoga (between 4:30AM to 7AM), 1 hour walk (7:30 to 8:30am) and usually carb based food for breakfast and lunch. Various types of Millets in the night. I am 70kg. Used to take 250mg Metformin 3 tubes a day. 5 months ago my hba1c was 5 so I reduced Metformin to 250mg twice a day. Now my hba1c is now 7. Again started using 3 tablets a day now. Am diabetic for the last about 12 to 13 years.
