I'm new here. I take 150 mg of Irbesartan at night. Blood pressure was 190/110 this morning. Can I take more Irbesartan until I can get to the doc? Their office is closed for the weekend. I do not want the ER due to the current virus exposure.

Hi Bitus, no don’t self medicate because it won’t do good but might cause you harm. 190/110 isn’t good but it isn’t an emergency situation unless you’ve been told by someone medically qualified, that it is.

Stay on your prescribed dose and seek further professional advice as soon as you are able, but playing with your drug dosage yourself is far more dangerous than one high BP reading. Just try to stay as calm as possible and don’t panic yourself into taking too-frequent readings. Best wishes to you.

I was going to suggest that readings can vary according to circumstances so maybe try again later. But not too often, I agree with that.

That's a really good point cathie. Whenever I've been asked to do check readings for my GP, I am always asked to take 3 readings at 10 minute intervals. Invariably, at rest, the readings show proportionately lower results each time it's taken.
