Am I diabetic

I went to the doctor and she said I'm pre diabetic. What does that mean? I'm so sugar fanatic,but i can't control my emotions and i eat far to much i checked my bp and was 124/86 which i don't know what that means either? I'm 27 years old soon after i eat or relax i get heart twinges and a very bad pulsating left foot constantly any one knows why i get a pulsating food let me know asap. Cheers becks

When Concerned said a good chance of becoming a full blown diabetic, I would say every chance of becoming a diabetic unless you cut down on the sugar and carbs.

You BP sounds OK to me.

You need to cut back on carbs (not cut out completely), eat good fats (in moderation), lose weight if you need to and learn about how you can pull back from pre-diabetes before you tip into full blown diabetes. Have a look at the diabetes.org.uk website for lots of information and educational modules and also the xperthealth.org.uk site for details of their educational courses that you could be referred to.

Take what your GP says seriously, yes you may be an emotional eater (I can be too) but I ignored my GP for years, even though my mum and sister had diabetes, I really believed I wasn't going to go onto develop it! I did! I was diagnosed in 2011 and am now back in the pre-diabetic range and almost in the non-diabetic range. Once you are a diabetic, even if you are in full control, you are always a diabetic so make some changes to your lifestyle and diet and you might just avoid it and the awful complications that go with being out of control.

Check with your GP about the pulsating foot, that is probably unrelated but worth checking out asap to make sure there's nothing else going on.
