Hello all. Does anyone knw why the nice guidelines state that type 2 diabetics should not use plant sterols? I cannot find any research to back up that advice, but there must be some! Many thanks.

The only reason I can think of is they assume all Type 2 diabetics will be on statins and if they then take plant sterols as well their cholesterol could get too low. I do know that statins come with an information leaflet advising not to take any other cholesterol lowering drugs/foodstuffs etc.
I know a man who had great cholesterol all his life - under 4, His GP put him on a statin and explained it was for 'just in case'
