I have just been to see my GP after suffering from a urine infection. She has said that the infection is still there and also there is +4 sugar in my urine. I am a type 1 diabetic. Would this mean that ketones are present in my urine?

Sugar in urine
Not necessarily, and remember, as a T1 diabetic it's runaway ketosis (strictly ketoacidosis) that you should be considering which is unlikely if you are using insulin correctly. However, if you have sugar in the urine it will make clearing the infection all the more difficult, as that is an ideal medium for bacteria to thrive in.
Be careful in accepting any advice here without careful research, but in any event I would urge you to research Dr. Bernstein. This is a man who has lived with T1 for 60 years, and apparently is the ONLY surviving T1 diabetic of his generation alive today. Lots of his work on line and on youTube.
This is the book you should consider your 'bible':
Have you a metre that can check ketones? Most 1 diabetics have this, if you don't you should see your go to obtain one and the testing strips that go with it.
