I was typed recently at Type 1/1.5 recently. I have been typed at Type 2 for many years. LADA is Latent Autoimmune Diabetes for Adults. My A1C was at 5.3 and my Endocrinologist wants it at 6.5. Has anybody else encountered this?

not LADA but a MODY genetic variation runs in my family - its frequently mistaken for type 2 (insulin resistant) but is actually closer to type 1. My brother found that he really couldn't control his blood sugar levels but knowing that my mother was actually MODY was able to get his meds changed to ones that worked for him - focusing more on increasing existing insulin production capabitility.

I didn't inherit the gene so don't have diabetes.

Don't know if it helps at all.
