I wouldn't exactly regard diabetes as 'interesting' or 'enjoyable' from any perspective. t is the bane of my life, always was and probably always shallo be. Eating has become a science n its self.

Hi kaya

I was put onto exenatide a few years ago, my mum had been put on it before me and seemed initially to have good results so I convinced my endo to let me try it. My BMI was to low for me to qualify for NICE guidelines. So I started on 5ml twice daily, with a view to increasing to 10ml twice daily. It was awful, only way I can describe it is constantly feeling like I had morning sickness. I would look at foods and just feel repulsed and think "if I eat that I will be sick" now under normal circumstances that would be a bonus if it were the right foods that we're having this effect. But unfortunately for me is wasn't. So fish salad veg all the good things that I would usually eat and should continue to eat made me feel so sick I couldn't even try to eat them. All the things I shouldn't be eating I craved, salty carbs chips crisp special fried rice etc. It was awful for me every time I tried to get up to 10 ml injections I would vomit any food eaten with about two seconds warning. I tried all in for about a year then gave up, and took a long hard look at portion size started excercising again and now try to stick to a low carb high protein diet. My mum was on it for about 5 years she was fine on the 10ml jabs but again she would crave the weirdest foods, pickled onions at one point she was eating a large jar a day, and munching her way through 12 bags of wotsits. Fish and Chips again were something she wanted to eat and the initial weight loss and blood glucose control went out the window as her diet got stranger and stranger. So I eventually got her to stop taking it and now she is back on insulin. I think each individual reacts differently so I would say give it a try. I know it has been very good for people who drink lots of alcohol, but you need to try something for yourself before you know how it will work for you. I hope this helps

The other posts on here are pretty scientific I think. I am just a user.  I am a Type @ Diabetic.  I am on Insulin, Humbling 200, Lon acting Insulin, Toujeo and Victoza.  I had been on Byetta an hated it and tried to control it with just Insulin.  I was out of control.

I will tell you that I made some changes that has now changed my life and my diabetes.  I went from an out of control A1C of 13 to a 6 in 2 years. I went to an amazing Endocrinologist and Diabetes Educator when I moved.

I now use Toujeo which I now can inject once a day instead of Lantus which was twice a day and Humalog and then stared on Vicotza.  The other thing was my glucometer.  I love this bolus advice meter, Accucheck Expert.  I don't have to think about it now.  I would highly recommend this meter.

So back to the Victoza. I started on a smaller amount in the first week or so for my body to work up to it.  I had a bit of an upset stomach but now I am using once a day and it gives me the added control.  I don't see as many high and lows like I used to. For me the sides effects wore off after a couple of weeks and I love that it has allowed me not to take as much insulin during my day. It has given me freedom.  I am not scientific but I am satisfied patient.

I realize everyone is different but that is my story. I hope that helps.
