Hi I am new to diabetes and confused. For years my weight has just gone up and up despite trying everything to lose it,
Diabetes may not be the reason for your weight gain.It could be due to some other reason, like thyroid for example.Only a doctor can guide you with proper diagnosis after conducting several diagnostic tests,
I have type 2 diabetes. I was way over weight. I take an amazing weight loss Skinny Fiber which Help me lose 55lbs and maintains my weight. I will lose 10 more lbsby eating healthy foods and exercising. If you would like to learn about this quick, healthy, effective product see:
High sugars reading don't necessarily stop weight gain. Exercise & drink water, 8 glasses a day will help and it is easier than measuring food volume and calories. Your disease is a slow killer and pain only enters the picture when you've done major damage.
I have been a diabetic for 20+ years (now on insulin for about 4 years). My weight went up when i went on the insulin.I also have renal failure(last 15 months). What i found was that by doing gentle exercise-walking-take stairs instead of a lift etc and watching the contents of some items-added sugar and fat content that this helped me to lose weight.watch out for the hidden sugars.i went to the gym once a week for gentle workout and lost 4 stones in twelve months.watch portion sizes at mealtimes.supplements are a waste of time.weight may come off but it will go back on.i was advised to aim for two pounds a week-this was steady and it has stayed off.My local nhs ran a six week course called diabetes xpert(they have a website) and they told you all aspects of diabetes, you were expected to join in with things but i learnt more in that six week programme(one night a week for three hours) on what to do and what to look out for than i had in about sixteen years of being diabetic.
Insulin is rough to maintain weight control. Best to use a slow acting one and use a fast one for spikes. Test your sugars 4 times a day. I know one is suppose to take insulin prior to a meal and estimate what you will eat. That was never me. You and I take insulin based on when the food hits the system. There in lies the issue. Best to cut meal portions down, eat 4 times a day and avoid carbs at night when they hit your system while you sleep (You aren't burning them up) and you spike. Dinner needs to be one of the lightest meals of the day.
Cut your portions in half. Don't snack between meals. 4 small meals a day is better than 3 or one huge one. Exercise at a cardio level at least 4 times a week so you keep your metabolism at a good level. AND drink plenty of water per day (at least 8 glasses)
